When you register with Last Post, we send you a PDF membership certificate. The certificate has your membership number on, a few words to explain that you are a member of our delayed mail service, and instructions for somebody to follow in the event of your death. You print out the certificate and file it with your fill or personal affects. Then whoever executes your will or deals with your affairs after death, faxes, emails or posts a copy of your membership certificate and death certificate to us so we can verify your death. If you have sent a letter for delivery at some point after death, we let the recipient know that they have a Last Post message stored. They then keep their delivery details up-to-date and let us know if a delivery condition is met.

Subscription type and period is fixed for the life of the subscription. If for example, you want to change from a 1 year Poppy letter to a 3 year Lily letter, start a new 3 year Lily letter subscription before your existing 1 year Poppy subscription expires and send a request to transfer your letter to your new subscription.

There are two ways to update your letter. You can either click the Home icon in your letter control panel, get your letter sent home, and then send a replacement. The letter status will read Sending Home. Alternatively, you can click on the Recycle icon, send a replacement, and we will switch the new letter for the old one, and shred the old one. The letter status will show as Switching Letter. You get one letter management credit for every year of subscription you buy. Sending a letter home or switching a letter uses up one letter management credit. Unused credits are carried forward.

If you prefer to have the letter sent home and you have unused letter management credits, click the Home icon, send your letter home, then cancel your subscription. The status of your letter will change to Home Cancel.

You can send photos and any printed material. The envelope can be up to A4 (229mm x 324mm) but must be flat and flexible for easy storage. You can send photos, videos, or other media indirectly by uploading the files to a free online sharing service and enclosing the site details and login with your letter. For security reasons, we would advise you not to include passwords in your letter, if you need to communicate a password, set it as the answer to a question that only you and the recipient would know.
